Jump-Off 73
Thursday, 08 January 2009 09:13
Jump-Off is back with a Happy Happy New Year edition. Jump-Off 73 has flying changes any camel can do. The EAM goes two tempi with another AGM postponement in the works. Jump-Off gives you the Gala Diet, finds Unhappy Queens, originates Weldings, and Presentoires the best SUV evah. It's not all lavatoire as Jump-Off 73 ushers in 2009.
Camel Dressage
Your horse can’t do flying changes? Why, any camel can.
No EAM AGM
To the surprise of none, there is no sign nor notice of an EAM AGM in January 2007, despite the 6 month delay allowed by Malaysia’s Sports Commissioner in July 2008.
Are there other issues, such as the legitimacy and registration of member clubs with the Sports Commissioner?
Unhappy Queens
An FEI World Dressage Challenge Judges is alleged to have stated that riders who smile through their test were obviously not focused and are therefore marked down. With no smiling allowed, shining, happy people contemplate shifting to showjumping or polo.
No wonder the FEI needed a change of Dressage Committee.
Ze Dinatoire
The Talk Dressage KL 2008, otherwise known as the FEI Riders Dressage Forum, held a “Dinatoire” at the Palace of the Golden Horses to welcome all participants. Jump-Off has no idea what a Dinatoire is, but it was a pleasure to have a makan with Mariette Withage, Dr Rico Schuijers, David Holmes and Jan Bemelmans who were the speakers at the Talk Dressage KL 2008 forum in KL. Asiapromote were presentoires of the Talk Dressage KL 2008.
Gala Dietoire
Speaking of dinatoires, the World Endurance Championship Gala Dinner was attended by far more people than expected by the organisers. Some invited guests and dignitaries have complained of going on an unexpected dietoire that evening.
Jockey wins race after 28 years
A Dorset dairy farmer Anthony Knott has ended his 28-year losing streak as an amateur jockey by finally winning a race.
There is hope for Malaysia's Endurance team.
What, no helmets?
DBKL’s Horse Unit Enforcement Officers obviously don’t need to wear helmets while riding their rounds. They are all such good riders and nothing unexpected ever surprises their horses.
Isn’t there a law against officers riding without helmets?
Football Fan Banned After Punching Police Horse
An unruly Stoke City fan has been banned from attending football matches for three years after punching a police horse. Jump-Off has it on reliable information that he didn't punch the officer in the head because he was wearing a helmet.
The Weld
Trying to sound like he knew a bit about horses, a Malaysian radio DJ asked, ''Is your horse a welding?''
Getting Warmer
Old and busted: Bandages. New hotness: Horse leg warmers.
Man Jailed for Sex with Horse
Leeroy Le Gallais, 46, broke into a stable on two separate occasions to perform sex acts on a terrified horse. He told the court: "Maybe I had a little bit of an urge or something. I mean, like a sexual, a sexual thing, I suppose you could call it that." After the second attack the horse was seen 'box walking', or moving sideways, a common sign of stress.
Maher and Baker get (it) off
Kathleen Baker has been found not guilty of charges of actual bodily harm brought against her at Brighton Crown Court for an alleged attack on Maher's ex-squeeze and groom. The news comes after her partner, Olympic show jumper Ben Maher, was acquitted in the case.
Maher, top rider at Olympia 2008, has since proposed to Baker. You’ve got to admire a man who stands by his convictions.

Santa's Parking Ticket
A Santa in New York was given a Christmas present this year - a parking fine.
The Santa was sitting in a horse-drawn carriage handing out presents when the traffic warden gave him the ticket for double-parking.
